Current Part 40 practice
Course material is checked against Part 40, DOT agency rules, the SAP Guidelines, and recent Federal Register developments.
From Beyond the Violation comes DOT SAP CEU, an online continuing education program for Substance Abuse Professionals working under the DOT return to duty process. Six focused courses, a final comprehensive assessment, and a printable resource binder, designed for the continuing education requirement at 49 CFR 40.281(d).
Beyond the Violation built this program for the DOT SAP continuing education cycle. Under 49 CFR 40.281(d), a SAP must complete at least 12 professional development hours during each three year period. The education must address developments in SAP practice and include documentable assessment. This program was built to that standard, course by course.
Course material is checked against Part 40, DOT agency rules, the SAP Guidelines, and recent Federal Register developments.
Each course includes case decisions and scored assessment items with feedback, creating a documented record of learning.
Completion records and the final certificate are designed to support the documentation a SAP must maintain under 49 CFR 40.281(e).
The full program is 12 hours. Courses are taken in sequence, followed by the final comprehensive assessment.
Recent developments, recurring failure points, and the decisions that shape a defensible SAP record.

Required reports, lawful disclosure, record requests, and follow up testing plans that meet the regulatory floor.
Clearinghouse reporting, employer communication, timing duties, and clean transitions between parties.
